Thursday Night Lights
Were big and bright, and deep in the heart of texas, The Philadelphia Eagles offense looked like deer in those lights. Houston controlled the game from the opening kickoff. Jumping out to an early 10-0. Jalen again committed multiple turnovers. Even with the brand new addition of Josh Jacobs, Hurts couldn’t get much going. Now, the blame is almost a majority on his shoulders, young star Devonta Smith was getting pressed and completely locked down by Nelson. Only breaking free from coverage once for a measly 1 catch catch for 5 yards. 6’6 Wideout Collin Johnson was able to spilt the defense right before half for a touchdown cutting the lead to 7-10 going in to half. While that looked like momentum could have switch seeing The Eagles, did receive the ball at half. The could only manage a field goal tying the game up 10-10. That was really the last glimpse of life you seen from Philadelphia until it was too late. Rookie running-back Dameon Pierce then put the Texans offense on his back, and was able to consistently run hard for 5+ yards a pop, against Philadelphias tired defense. The Eagles defense held as strong as they could being exhausted. Although with their offense not helping, and giving Houston short fields thanks to, turnover after turnover by hurts (another 4 interception game). they just couldn’t keep the young wrecking ball Pierce (19/118/2) from punching in the rock twice in the fourth quarter moving the score 24-10. Last ditch efforts A.J Brown (6/148/1) was able to score with just under a minute cutting the score to 24-17, but unable to scoop an onside kick Philadelphia watched Mills take the victory formation and clinch the game. This was possibly the last game in my opinion the Eagles had a real chance of winning the rest of the season. Now their schedule becomes extremely hard and as I been saying this offense has an identity crisis, and Jalen has a turnover problem (15 interceptions in 4 games). If you ask me, it’s almost certainly too late for it to be solved. If they don’t win another game this season, I wouldn’t be surprised. Coach P.Philly really should be on the chopping block no matter his head scratching 5-3 start. I keep harping on it, but this redzone offense is vile. Only getting points 1 of 4 times this week. There’s only been 1 out of the 8 games Philadelphia managed to score 50% in the redzone. Get ready for a very long and disappointing end to the season. As much as I love our Philadelphia Eagles, I’m a realist and Coach Philly and Hurts just aren’t going to get it done for us. Let’s see if they prove me wrong week 10 in a week 3 rematch vs The Commanders on Monday night football in Philadelphia.
