In a rematch of last years Wildcard Playoff game, the Vikings were able to outlast the home team Eagles 34-30. Forecasters called for hurricane like conditions, but aside from some wind, the field remained dry throughout the game. After a turnover on the opening drive, the Eagles were able to score a touchdown on a 3rd down QB sneak. The Vikings answered with a 21 yard touchdown pass to Dalvin Cook. The Eagles mustered a FG and the Vikings answered with a 58 yard touchdown pass from Mond to Jefferson. The Vikings and Eagles then exchanged touchdowns on 4 consecutive drives to end the half 34-24 (TD pass to Goedert, TD run by Cook, TD pass to Reagor. TD run by Cook).
The fireworks subsided in the second half, with the Vikings being held scoreless and holding the Eagles to 6 points on 2 field goals. After an inexcusable INT at the 7yd line, the Eagles had one last chance to march down the field to score, but veteran Harrison Smith snatched a pass intended for Goedert and Cook ran out the clock to secure the win.
Other Notes:
Dalvin Cook returned to form, rushing for 180 yards and scoring 3 TDs.
Mond came back down to earth a bit, throwing for 3 TDs but also throwing 2 INTs, his first of the year.
The Vikings run defense continues to look vulnerable, giving up 98 yards on 19 carries, but there is some saving grace knowing 55 came on a single play). This has prompted Coach Eriksen to consider a move back to the 4-3 that proved so effective last year.
WR Adam Thielen went down in the 2nd quarter with a shoulder injury. Listed as questionable for next weeks game against the Giants of New York.
