Welcome to NSL GOTW

Week 6

Commanders vs Vikings
This week we have the Commanders vs Vikings. After going 16-1 in season 1 the Commanders have had a rough start to this season. Meanwhile the Vikings have taken out every opponent they’ve faced this season and have some quality wins against NSL’s tougher teams. The Commander’s Sam Howell has not started the season well throwing 16 interceptions to only 9 TDs. The Vikings have been able to maintain a balanced offense but the defensive unit is one of the worst in the league at yards allowed. The crowded NFC playoff picture means every loss holds tremendous weight. Will the Commanders find a way to stop the bleeding or will the Vikings continue to stay undefeated this week?
Result: Commanders 51, Vikings 40

Week 7

Dolphins vs Patriots
For Week 7 we have a top 10 offense with the Patriots facing off against a top 5 defense in NSL with the Dolphins. Both Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa have had great starts to the season. Both teams are also lead by two speedy receivers with Waddle & Hill and Ridley & Thornton. There’s many similarities between both teams as far as rosters and talent. This game could turn into a shootout as both teams have scored 30+ points multiple times this season against their opponents. Which team will come out on top and which receiving group will have more yards in this big AFC East matchup?
Result: Dolphins 10, Patriots 28

Week 8

6-0 Seahawks vs 3-3 Eagles

This week we have the Seahawks vs Eagles. The Eagles started the season 1-3 but have been able to steer the ship back on course and are now on a 2 game winning streak. The Seahawks have played really well the last two seasons with them making it to the conference championship in season 1. So far no one has been able to beat them this year and they’ve stayed undefeated through 6 games. A big reason why the Hawks have been great this season is the phenomenal play coming from their QB, Tom Brady. He has some of the best QB stats in the league right now and is sitting at 20 TDs to only 9 INTs. The Eagles offense is lead by Nick Chubb and the QB room for them has been a revolving door of QBs. Four different QBs have started games this season so far for the Eagles and they’ll need to play better than they have been in order to beat the Hawks this week.
Result: Seahawks 38, Eagles 17

Week 9

5-3 Packers vs 6-2 Falcons

This week we have the Packers vs Falcons. The Falcons shipped off Desmond Ridder and are now rolling with Bailey Zappe at QB. Will Zappe be the answer or a temporary plug in for the Falcons for the rest of the season? Time will tell but he had a great game against the Jets this week. Meanwhile the Packers are starting a win streak by racking up two wins in a row and blowing out the Bucs this week in a convincing 55-23 win. The Packers have an established starter at QB while the Falcons are in transition at the position. Which QB will emerge as the victor this week?
Result: Packers 48, Falcons 45

Week 10
6-2 Broncos vs 4-4 Raiders
This week we have the Broncos vs Raiders. After a disappointing 2022 season, the Broncos are back on track and are sitting at a comfortable 5-2. Better play from the QB and a strong run game has helped them get there so far this season. Meanwhile, the new Raiders owner has been steadily improving and has had some big wins vs the Dolphins and Vikings. We’re at the mid-point of the season and the Raiders can’t afford to fall behind again in the AFC West if they plan on making the playoffs. Will this underdog Raiders team be able to take down the Broncos this week?
Result: Broncos 40, Raiders 17

Week 11

9-0 Seahawks vs 5-5 Cowboys

This week we have the Seahawks vs Cowboys. The league has been taking bets on who will take down this seemingly unbeatable hawks team each week and each week he’s come out of his game victorious. His offense has been unstoppable and he rarely turns the ball over on offense. The Cowboys have had a rocky season starting 1-5 but have rallied back to even his record at 5-5. Will the win streak continue for the Cowboys or is this where it stops? The cowboys have a quality team along with a good user. Are we in store for an upset 🚨this week?
Result: Seahawks 40, Cowboys 28

Week 12
8-2 Vikings vs 7-3 Panthers
This week we have the Vikings vs Panthers. The Vikings have another tough matchup this week against one of the better teams in the league. Justin Jefferson has once again made his case this season as one of the best receivers in the league and is sitting at over 1100+ yards already. The Panthers have one of the more balanced offenses in the league and have multiple receivers over 500 yards. The Panthers are heading into this game after a tough loss to the Falcons and will need to get back on track this week in order to stay in the NFC South Division crown race. The Vikings folded under the pressure during their first appearance on GOTW. Is this his redemption game this week?
Result: Vikings 13, Panthers 20

Week 13
8-2 Chargers vs 8-2 Broncos
This week we have the Chargers vs Broncos. The Chargers destroyed the Broncos in their first meeting at the beginning of the year but this Broncos team looks different now. Last year both teams finished out their seasons with losing records but this year they have looked like two of the top teams in the AFC. The Chargers have a heavy rushing offense led by Ekeler, who is the rushing leader of the league so far this year and is showing no signs of slowing down(besides stats decreases). The Broncos have a more balanced attack led by Russell Wilson who has had a great season so far. Which version of offense will dominate this matchup?
Result: Chargers 34, Broncos 20

Week 14
8-4 Titans vs 9-3 Panthers
This week we have the Titans vs Panthers. Both of these teams run a balanced offense led by the featured HBs of Mcaffrey and Henry respectively. The Titans have done a great job this year at keeping games close against top opponents and besides the opening game of the season, they haven’t lost by more than 10 in any of their other games. The Panthers have managed to stay relatively consistent throughout the season and have managed to only lose 3 games so far compared to the Titan’s 4. Which of these HBs will put their team on top this week?
Result: Titans 21, Panthers 28

Week 15

9-4 Packers vs 8-5 49ers
This week we have the Packers vs 49ers. The Packers have one of the top offenses in the league that’s led by receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Both of their top receivers have 1000+ yards with Watson eclipsing the 1500 yard mark with 4 games still to go in the season. The 49ers are lead by their speedy receiver and deep threat Steven Matthews who is averaging almost 25 yards per reception. Trey Lance has also been a great dual threat weapon for the 49ers so the Packers will have to be careful about leaving him too much space to operate. Both teams have top 10 offenses and also have two of the fastest receivers in the league. This game could turn into a shootout with the amount of weapons on both sides of the field.
Result: Packers 37, 49ers 60

Week 16

10-4 Chargers vs 7-7 Bills

This week we have the Chargers vs Bills. The Chargers stood their ground on their first appearance on GOTW with a big win over the Broncos. Their offense hasn’t changed much and they’re still relying heavily on their run game. The Bills are looking at a wildcard spot in the AFC playoff race and have been up and down all season. The Bills have been consistently inconsistent but have managed to stay relevant this season. The weak AFC playoff race has benefitted them and they are still in the running to make it in. A win here will send a message to the other AFC teams that the Bills deserve a place next to the other top AFC teams.
Result: Chargers 10, Bills 26

Week 17

12-3 Falcons vs 9-6 Saints
This week we have the Falcons vs Saints. The Falcons have been dominant all season and their mid-season trade to send Desmond Ridder out of town has proven to be the right decision as Zappe has done well in his first season in Atlanta. The Falcons have a young team with a ton of talent that has really stepped up despite their low overalls. Second year MLB Troy Anderson has 11 interceptions on the year and has established himself as one of the more feared pass coverage linebackers in the league. Meanwhile, the Saints are fighting for an outside chance to stay in the playoff conversation. While Jimmy Garoppolo has been an improvement over last year’s QBs in New Orleans, he still doesn’t seem to be the long-term answer for them. The Saints have progressively gotten better over the season but Jimmy G will need to play the game of his life if he wants his team to have any shot at the playoffs.
Result: Falcons 43, Saints 21

Week 18
10-6 Broncos vs 9-7 Bills
For the last GOTW of the season we have a winner makes the playoffs and loser goes home scenario between the Broncos and Bills. The Bills answered the call on their last appearance on GOTW beating the Chargers in convincing fashion and were able to beat the Raiders last week to continue their win streak. The Bills had to win out to make it into the playoffs and that’s exactly what they’ve done since then. Thing’s didn’t go well the last time the Broncos were on GOTW and they have struggled mightily on the tail end of the season. Broncos fans are still hopeful for a shot at the playoffs but are demoralized after having lost 5 of their last 6 games. It’s now or never for the Broncos as they have a tough opponent this week in the Bills who have managed to fight their way back into the playoffs. Will Russ cook this week or will the Cinderella story playoff push continue for the Bills?
