Record Breaking Loss

Sounds exciting? Well, no. The Philadelphia Eagles lost their second straight game, along with the season series vs The Washington Commanders. The game started with what other than, a Jalen Hurts interception for a touchdown. Pitiful. Although during the second drive Coach P.Philly started giving it to Jacob who showed great improvement after getting a week in his new system. Relief sat In after watching how he played, knowing we gave up a lot, he will do big things in Philadelphia. He couldn’t help Hurts accuracy or decision making unfortunately. For a majority of the game though, he was giving the wide receivers soft coverage to try and catch the errant throws from Jalen(45.8 completion %). Collin Johnson almost identical to the week prior split the defensive right before half for a touchdown (2/54/1). A prefect set of passes from Howell set the The Commanders up for a field goal to take it to half 13-10. In an action packed second half, Brown and Isabella both found the endzone. It’s thanks to the steady Jacob workload that let them both go for over 30+ yards for their scores. The Commanders just weren’t fazed. Matching every score. With the game tied and winnable in the 4th qt Hurts back to back drives threw interceptions. The defense, held its ground on both only letting up 3 points and giving Hurts one last chance. Unfortunately, without Josh Jacobs running as a factor due to terrible timeouts called in the 3rd and early 4th. Hurts had to actually make difficult passes. Which didn’t lead to anything but the kicker having to try a 67 yard record breaking kick. Well, Jake Elliot indeed went to nail that kick, and tie the game. This left just under a minute for Washington score at 30-30. Sam Howell poised came back on the field and made that historic kick nothing but a blip. The Rookie and Terry McLaurin build an innate connection over this season. You could see it in the trust with seconds left Howell bombed a simple streak to Terry in double coverage, Slay being one of the defenders and made it look like a toss between the two in the park as McLaurin grabbed the perfect pass for 46 yards. Washington then hurried up to the line, Eagles clearly looking like they gave up at that point. Let Howell throw another touchdown ending the game 30-37. As fun as that second half sounded, don’t let it fool you. Philadelphia was never truly in this game, from start to finish Washington was in control just like we saw in the week prior in Houston. The fact Jacob “looks” to be a bigger part of this offense makes me happy. I might change my opinion and say Eagles won’t lose out. I can see one more win this season. But that’s still a failure for the start, and talent on this team. Hurts needs to play better, the defense needs to play better, and it’s all starts with P.Philly. I can almost certainly say it won’t be next week as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the red hot colts and stud runningback Jonathan Taylor. It’s going to be a slaughter. Tune in at your own risk.

Thursday Night Lights

Were big and bright, and deep in the heart of texas, The Philadelphia Eagles offense looked like deer in those lights. Houston controlled the game from the opening kickoff. Jumping out to an early 10-0. Jalen again committed multiple turnovers. Even with the brand new addition of Josh Jacobs, Hurts couldn’t get much going. Now, the blame is almost a majority on his shoulders, young star Devonta Smith was getting pressed and completely locked down by Nelson. Only breaking free from coverage once for a measly 1 catch catch for 5 yards. 6’6 Wideout Collin Johnson was able to spilt the defense right before half for a touchdown cutting the lead to 7-10 going in to half. While that looked like momentum could have switch seeing The Eagles, did receive the ball at half. The could only manage a field goal tying the game up 10-10. That was really the last glimpse of life you seen from Philadelphia until it was too late. Rookie running-back Dameon Pierce then put the Texans offense on his back, and was able to consistently run hard for 5+ yards a pop, against Philadelphias tired defense. The Eagles defense  held as strong as they could being exhausted. Although with their offense not helping, and giving Houston short fields thanks to, turnover after turnover by hurts (another 4 interception game). they just couldn’t keep the young wrecking ball Pierce (19/118/2) from punching in the rock twice in the fourth quarter moving the score 24-10. Last ditch efforts A.J Brown (6/148/1) was able to score with just under a minute cutting the score to 24-17, but unable to scoop an onside kick Philadelphia watched Mills take the victory formation and clinch the game. This was possibly the last game in my opinion the Eagles had a real chance of winning the rest of the season. Now their schedule becomes extremely hard and as I been saying this offense has an identity crisis, and Jalen has a turnover problem (15 interceptions in 4 games). If you ask me, it’s almost certainly too late for it to be solved. If they don’t win another game this season, I wouldn’t be surprised. Coach P.Philly really should be on the chopping block no matter his head scratching 5-3 start. I keep harping on it, but this redzone offense is vile. Only getting points 1 of 4 times this week. There’s only been 1 out of the 8 games Philadelphia managed to score 50% in the redzone. Get ready for a very long and disappointing end to the season. As much as I love our Philadelphia Eagles, I’m a realist and Coach Philly and Hurts just aren’t going to get it done for us. Let’s see if they prove me wrong week 10 in a week 3 rematch vs The Commanders on Monday night football in Philadelphia.

Battle Of Pennsylvania

The media has been hyping this game up as, “Bush vs Dean, The battle for Pennsylvania.” After the two teams made a week 4 trade swapping the two middle linebackers. Now, just like the last time the eagles took the field there was 10 combined turnovers between the teams, split down the middle. Jalen managed to only account for 2 this week, still far from good but a hell of a lot better then the four he had vs Dallas and five in the Arizona desert. The other three turnovers came from the hands of Miles Sanders. Or lack of. Fumbling three total times. In a pathetic outing (11 carries/28yards/1touchdown/3fumbles) which lead him to getting benched, in replace for recently signed veteran Mark Ingram. The offensive woes for the Eagles certainly continued this week. Out of their 38 points scored the offense only managed 17 of them. Hurts bombed a beautiful ball before half to A.J Brown, who burnt the press coverage for 81 yards and a 2 yard scamper by Miles Sanders. More putrid redzone efficiency staggered Philadelphias offense, goin only 1 of 7. That’s 14.7%, if they can’t fix this problem fast, I can ensure you this season will not end in the playoffs. Which is a very sad realization knowing they’re sitting at 5-2. The defense and special teams is what saved the day for Philadelphia. After going down 10-0 early to Pittsburgh, The Eagles turned a sack fumble credited to Josh Sweat, in to a scoop and score touchdown by Jeff Okudah. Next drive Philly forced a 3 and out, and Kenneth Gainwell gave The eagles a reason to not look back as a 59 yard punt return touchdown changed momentum and opened the floodgates. Last real notable thing is CJ-GJ’s campaign for Defensive Player of the Year, adding another interception return for a touchdown to his stats (7 interception / 4 for a touchdown). The battle of Bush and Dean was dominated by Bush’s collective team. Although if you single those two out (stats vs stats) it was not even close. Dean who has 1 pass deflection only could find assisted tackles on the day, recording officially 0 solo tackles. While Bush went on to match the deflection and a combined total of 7 tackles 3 being solo along with 2 for a loss. Since the trade Bush has ( 28 total tackles/8 for a loss/.5 sacks/ 1 interception/ 1 touchdown). While Dean has (13 total tackles, 2 for a loss, and 1 sack). The Philadelphia Eagles defense helped me sleep better, but the state of this offense in my opinion will be its downfall. I’m still not fooled by rookie head coach P.Philly’s 5-2 start to the season but all I can do is tune in and pray this offense wakes up soon. Next up, Philadelphia will travel to Houston for a Monday night showdown vs as of writing the 2-4 Texans.

“What do you call dangerous precipitation?” A rain of terror. That’s what you got if you tuned in to The Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night week 6 matchup vs The Dallas Cowboys. Pun aside, both teams should have fear and terror in their hearts about the results. Neither team looked remotely close to playoff contenders. The team’s combined for a total 10 turnovers in the treacherous downpour. Hurts who just last week had 5 interceptions couldn’t shake that bug, adding another 4 tonight. Only adding 1 touchdown. Making it ( 12 touchdown passes to 18 interceptions.) He’s not looking like the X-Factor quarterback most media outlets were thinking he’d be by season end. Newly signed backup Quarterback and mentor Josh Johnson, 38 years old had to step in for a single play after hurts got hurt. That single play is only being mentioned because it went for 30% of the total offensive yards the Eagles produced tonight. A 61 yard strike to DeVonta Smith for a touchdown gave the eagles a solid lead and their final points before going in to half time 33-14. Three defensive touchdowns in the first half helped with that as C.J Gardner had and interception for a touchdown. (Third of the season, off 6 Interceptions) while Davion Taylor, and Devin Bush both recovered fumbles and added scores. Once half time hit, so did all Eagles momentum. Right in to a wall. Shutout, aired out, and ran on. You’d have thought they’d wanted the Cowboys to comeback. Dak Prescott played out his mind trying to get out the early hole he found himself in. Taking a read option 62 yards to the house. (Longest run by a quarterback this season to date.) Next hooking up with T.Y Hilton on a 51 yard bomb making the game 33-27 in the 4th. With odds stack against the cowboys, they collected the onside kick with time left to mount the comeback. Fortunately, Prescott must have had watch too much Romo film prior, tossing a game sealing interception to James Bradberry. Congratulations P.Philly you’re 4-2. Although it’s not impressive. 199 total offensive yards compared to the cowboys 448, 7 first downs compared to their 21, just under 10 less minutes of possession, and the most worrying 0 % redzone offense on six attempts. I hope you go in to this bye week and change somethings, or this 3 game win streak will prove to be a fluke and you’ll end up back looking like the team week 2, and 3. Week 8 vs The Pittsburgh Steelers will be the next time you see the Philadelphia Eagles fly in to action, Devin Bush will face his old team on his new turf.

The Philadelphia Eagles coming in to this week 5 match up, where they traveled to Arizona were 2-2 and very much an enigma. Having the number 1 defense after week one, only giving up 10 points. To giving up the most points in any game this calendar season (62) to the Minnesota Vikings week 2. Followed by a week 3 game to The Washington commanders. In which 5 interceptions from Jalen hurts, and Commanders Offensive Coordinator drawling up a master class game for Dyami Brown (11 catches/132yards/2touchdown) lead to 37-24 loss. Heading in to Week 4, 1-2 Coach P.Philly made a decision to trade for Devin Bush. Which paid off in his first game as Eagle, snagging an interception for a touchdown in a much need home win vs the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hurts also preformed well after the disastrous game in D.C by contributing 4 total touchdowns 3 passing 1 rushing in a 52-29 victory. All this being said, no one knew how this game in Arizona would turn out. Or that it would come down to seconds left in OT. With a massively clutch catch from ironically ex Arizona Cardinal Andy Isabella (5catches/153yards), leading to the game winning 19 yard field goal by Jake Elliot (3/3 55yard longest) making the final 51-48. Hurts who had over 400 yards passing had another horrific Touchdown to interception ratio only throwing one touchdown to yet another FIVE interceptions. If not from a strong game from Miles Sanders (16 carries/137yards/4touchdowns) and yet again Devin Bush (8tck/3tfl/.5sack) The Eagles very much could be 2-3 heading home to week 6 for a division game vs The Dallas Cowboys. Since Devin Bush put on the midnight green he’s racked up (15 total tackles/ 5 tackles for a loss/ 1 interception for a touchdown/ half a sack) in 2 weeks really showing he’s not just a star Devin Bush is a SuperStar. The Philadelphia Eagles sit a 3-2, will have a home game against divisional rival Dallas next week, and we just hope they have finally found their rhythm.
