After Shanahan refused to start Trey Lance during preseason he was released. After bringing in a replacement coach that immediately left for a better offer, the organization turned to the recently fired Stockton. After speaking with management the new head coach had double down trading away Jimmy Garoppolo to the Dolphins to get another receiver for Lance to utilize. Coach Stockton, whom originally looked clueless, may actually have a plan that could work. Only time will tell.
